What has surprised the internet community is Elon Musk’s plan to launch a video app on the X platform in the forthcoming weeks. It is widely said that he initially plans to launch this app for Amazon Fire TV and Samsung Smart TV. You can also expect the app to launch on Apple TV and Android TV soon. The X video app is speculated to be a clone app of YouTube. The news was discussed by an anonymous designer on X, tweeting, “You can soon watch your favorite X long form videos on your Smart TVs.” And Elon Musk acknowledged this by tweeting, “Coming soon“.
We all know that Musk has been trying to make Twitter (now X) an ” Everything App” since acquiring It. This is evident in his recent gradual conversion of the Twitter app’s format from long-written articles to two-hour videos, not to mention the Download option for videos. A good response to these new innovations could have been a catalyst for his creation of the X video streaming app for Android TV and Fire TV.
To no one’s amazement, X’s video app has features almost similar to those of the YouTube app. The efforts are in full swing to make the new launch a big success. The action of forging partnerships with former Fox commentator Tucker Carlson proves Musk’s action. He makes these measures to lure out the existing 80,000 creators and all the viewers of the YouTube app on Firestick & Android TV.
Musk is also planning additional and convenient features for users and creators. I speculate that the X video app tends to pay creators a higher percentage of ad revenue than YouTube currently pays.
Some speculate that Elon Musk is also planning to compete with the streaming platform Twitch, the messaging app Signal, and the social media forum Reddit. So, there are a lot more interesting contests awaiting us to spectate in the near future.
Many expect YouTube’s response to heat up this rivalry. Let’s see whether YouTube will make an effort to hold its position on Fire TV, Samsung TV, and other Smart TVs against the X video app. Let’s see how long this rivalry goes and which acquires the crown of the best video platform.
